Lucile joined Viaposte in 2015, she tells us about her role as Head of Payroll SSC.
She joined Viaposte as a Payroll Officer and moved to the position of Deputy Head of Payroll at the beginning of 2020. She explains her career path and the different challenges she has had to face. Discover her testimony in pictures.
What does it mean to be an assistant payroll manager ?
When she arrived at Viaposte, she participated in the redesign of the payroll software, which involved archiving all employee data as well as all related parameterization actions.
More recently, she has moved to her position as Deputy Head of the Payroll Department, which involves managing all payroll-related activities.
Her position can mean dealing with salaries, but also with employee absences, and other compensation-related attributes.
She explains: "At Viaposte, I like the working environment and the opportunity to constantly learn more.”
The tasks of the Assistant Payroll Manager
Lucile's main tasks are to assist the payroll officers in their daily work, to check the reliability of the payroll and to provide support to the payroll manager.
In general, the Payroll Manager may have a major role in the implementation and evolution of payroll management software. There is also a whole part of his/her work linked to social and labour law, notably all elements of variable remuneration, absences due to paid leave or sick leave.
It is also their responsibility to ensure that the various taxes and social security contributions are paid within the required deadlines.
How do I get to be an operations manager ?
The position of Assistant Payroll Manager/Payroll Manager requires a solid knowledge of the various aspects of human resources. It is a position that generally requires a BAC+5 level education with a specialization in HR.
For Lucile, the choice was a natural one: "I turned to human resources because I wanted to have a multi-faceted job, so the field of human resources corresponded well to my expectations, especially the field of payroll.”
She has good priority management skills and also cites stress management and curiosity as qualities required for her job.
