Temp agencies are in position

Logisticians can more easily adapt their need for warehouse personnel through new solutions and approaches to interim and HR management. Synonymous with speed and time savings, they already concern many companies and could grow; even more so after the Covid-19 crisis.

Ability to work within the logistics infrastructure

Coverage of the territory with their physical agencies is not the only benefit that traditional temporary employment agencies can offer to logistics service providers; they also have the capacity to work within their own infrastructures, a situation that concerns XPO Logistics, Viaposte and Amazon, among others. All of Amazon's French sites have temporary agency offices, such as the Brétigny-sur-Orge site, which hosts the offices of Adecco and Promanet Partenaire agencies.

At XPO Logistics, of the 90 logistics sites that the logistician has in the territory, there are currently about 20 that have this type of facility. "They allow us to be as close as possible to our needs and those of our temporary workers", explains XPO Logistics' General Manager Supply Chain France and Switzerland, Bernard Wehbe.

Deployed in particular on the logistician's e-commerce sites, these sites are regularly informed of the service provider's upcoming peaks of activity, via its suite of optimization and predictive analysis tools (XPO Smart), and are able to quickly provide answers to temporary workers' queries about their employment contracts or pay slips. This last point is particularly important, given that the service provider recruits 12,000 to 15,000 temporary workers in Europe each year during its peak periods, which is the equivalent of all its staff in France (13,000). "We have a framework contract with half a dozen temporary employment agencies, and then instruct our site managers to work with the agencies they want in their respective geographical areas," continues Bernard Wehbe.

An implementation of the Adecco network in some warehouses

Viaposte does the same, as the La Poste group subsidiary also has half a dozen framework agreements with traditional temporary employment agencies, with several of its platforms hosting temporary agency locations. For the past three years, its logistics platform in Chilly-Mazarin, in the Essonne region of France, has thus had an Adecco network branch.
"Since it was set up, the absenteeism rate of our temporary workers has dropped from 5% to 6%" says Patrice Moreau, the director of this 12,000 m2 site.
