In this context and thanks to its expertise as an industrial integrator, Viaposte was asked to commission four new sorters at two of its Colissimo customer's sites and two of its own sites in France. Two of these sorters were ordered at the end of the first confinement period in France and delivered in record time for this type of installation.
In total, these new sorters provide additional sorting capacity of more than 300,000 parcels and small goods per day.

At the end of 2020, logistics underwent a very strong and sudden surge in parcel and goods flows, with 30% and 20% additional flows respectively.
"This is an unprecedented Peak Period for our customers, and we have been able to support them with a wide variety of exceptional services, including the addition of sorters adapted to their needs", explains Pascal Cesari, Industrial Director at Viaposte.

To meet these needs, Viaposte's latest industrial innovation, the Sort & Drive sorter, which enables parcels to be sorted by delivery round, was installed and commissioned at the Colissimo platforms in Lievin (Nord Pas de Calais) and Argonay (Haute Savoie).  Respectively 50,000 and 35,000 parcels per day are prepared and loaded directly into last-mile delivery vehicles.
At the Viaposte platform in Toulouse, the Sort & Move sorter model, an economical, modular and transportable sorter, has been configured and put into service to provide an additional sorting capacity of 130,000 parcels/day.
Finally, the Viaposte logistics platform at Saint-Thibault-des-Vignes (Seine-et-Marne) has been equipped with a PPI workshop sorter dedicated to small goods and sorting at retail outlets, providing an additional sorting capacity of 75,000 goods per day.

"Our agility lies in our ability to integrate innovative and scalable solutions and to configure them to adapt to the needs of our customers and to the availability of the sites. Our industrial engineering, coupled with our ability to provide logistics and maintenance services for sorters, enables us to quickly commission and ensure business continuity for players in the BtoB supply chain", comments Pascal Cesari.
