Article from Voxlog : "Actemium Lyon Logistics deploys a logistics sorting solution at Viaposte"
Installation of a new automated logistics sorting solution
Viaposte, logistics service provider and subsidiary of La Poste Group, has called on Actemium Lyon Logistics to equip its sorting centre in Argonay, Haute-Savoie.
Faced with a sharp rise in parcel volumes following the development of e-commerce, the logistics provider Viaposte, a subsidiary of the La Poste Group, has decided to install a new automated solution at its sorting centre in Argonay (74). This "Sort & Drive" equipment was deployed by the specialist in the design and integration of intralogistics solutions, Actemium Lyon Logistics.
35,000 parcels processed per day
Sorting on the delivery driver's round
Previously, the delivery drivers themselves carried out the picking and sorting of parcels on shelves and loaded them into their vehicles. Now, the automated solution directly manages the injection of parcels and the sorting on the round for the postmen, who can directly load the parcels into their vehicles. For this purpose, a mechanised sorting system consisting of 4 automated unloading lines has been installed, with telescopic conveyors to manually deposit the parcels from the trailers. The parcels are transported, identified and measured by a scanning tunnel with HD barcode cameras, weighed and transported to a vertical mechanical cross belt sorting system developed by Interroll.
Reduction of the preparation time of a delivery round and of the maintenance
As a result, round preparation time has been cut by a factor of three, enabling 35,000 parcels per day to be processed for last-mile deliveries, i.e. 6,200 parcels per hour via 80 outlets. Other advantages of the solution include low maintenance, very low noise levels, removable trolley exits and ergonomic workstations.
