Viaposte deploys SAP BW/4HANA

Viaposte, the logistics, maintenance and transport subsidiary of the La Poste group, has opted for SAP BW/4HANA. This data warehouse solution runs on the HANA in-memory database. It is used by the company based in Kremlin-Bicêtre (Val-de-Marne) to monitor the performance of its logistics activity in real time.
The solution enables Viaposte to analyse, visualize and map data from SAP or third-party applications from a single interface. The decision-making tool is already available on a dozen production sites. It should be available at all the logistics service provider's sites by the end of 2020.

Decision-making forecasting

Obtaining key performance indicators from business applications or Excel files is part of the objectives of this deployment. It is also to facilitate decision making, forecasting and consolidation at the end of the month.

The application "is used in all logistics network management meetings" said Christian Thomas, Viaposte's Chief Information Officer (CIO). It is used to quickly obtain "an overview" of the activities being managed and to "empower the teams", he added.

The software provides "real added value" beyond its basic functionality, he says. Invoicing, from supplier to customer, is thus centralized on SAP BW/4HANA.

The "collected data is translated on Microsoft PowerBI and [SAP] Analysis For Office, an add-in available via Excel and installed on the user workstation. [The program] can also extract data from SAP ERP" that Viaposte uses on a daily basis.
