Bardinet, spirits specialist

Transporting delicate products

Founded in 1857, the French company Bardinet specialises in the manufacture and distribution of rum, alcoholic beverages and soft drinks.

Its head office and bottling plant have been located in Blanquefort, near Bordeaux, since 1975. The region is the historic production site for Negrita rum, the brand's flagship product. However, its customers are mainly to be found north of the Loire: to transport its products, which are packaged in glass bottles, Bardinet has to ensure that they are transported safely and securely.

Customer delivery and transport: a development challenge

Bardinet's business is growing and expanding, as demonstrated by the new warehouse planned in Blanquefort by 2025, which will provide the company with an additional 10,000 m2 of fully automated storage space.

With this development came the need for efficient and reliable partners. To this end, Bardinet launched a call for tenders in 2023 for the year 2024: the specifications indicated a need for the transport of fragile products, but also requirements in terms of flexibility and responsiveness. The requirements mainly concerned pallets, but also barrels, for supermarkets and hypermarkets.

Viaposte and its freight agency in Bordeaux were selected for this tender. With Fabien and Guillaume, the collaboration can continue, demonstrating the growing relationship of trust between Bardinet and Viaposte.

A transport partnership

For Bardinet, Viaposte manages the transport of flows on pallets, in batches or in full lorries, mainly destined for the logistics platforms of large and medium-sized food retailers.  But what was behind this collaboration?

A successful trial period

When Bardinet discovered the Viaposte solution, the company signed up for a four-month trial period. The distribution company was "pleasantly surprised" by the quality of Viaposte's loading, according to Jean-Philippe Jaulgey, its logistics and transport manager.

And that's exactly what Bardinet was interested in: quality of service. To meet the needs of transporting fragile products, Viaposte demonstrated its expertise in managing delicate freight: this involves raising the awareness of teams and drivers, as well as limiting load breaks, with as little unloading as possible.

What's more, because of its need for flexibility, Bardinet has found a reliable partner in Viaposte. Thanks to a first-rate human commitment, Viaposte provides Bardinet with responsiveness and transparency: between Fabien and his customer, there are almost daily exchanges to take stock of the situation for each shipment.

From picking up the products in Blanquefort to final delivery, Viaposte was able to meet Bardinet's expectations and conclude the trial period.

The advantages of the Viaposte solution

When asked about the strengths of this collaboration, Jean-Philippe Jaulgey answers without hesitation: "I would single out the Viaposte staff, who listen to us and know how to meet our requirements in terms of quality and deadlines.”

This quality is based on daily human interactions, responsiveness and the organisation of Viaposte, a true solutions architect. Faced with a very complicated month of May, for example, with two public holidays in the same week, Viaposte stood out for its upstream organisation.

Bardinet's logistics and transport manager also emphasises the economic benefits of this subcontracting: "The competitive rates enable Viaposte to support us in our development.” Through its expertise, the company is committed to being a first-rate business partner for its customers.

Viapost offer continued

The good results achieved by the Viaposte solution have reassured Bardinet, enabling it "to envisage a very interesting future". Jean-Philippe Jaulgey underlines Viaposte's high loading capacity and the quality of its services, both in terms of loading and delivery to customers.

The collaboration is continuing successfully, and there may well be other joint projects in the pipeline!
